Harlequins Golf Cup

On 3rd of October 2009 (Saturday) the “Harlequins Cup” Tournament was held for third time at St. Sofia Golf Club & Spa. There was a good number of foreign golfers that took part in the competition as did the ambassadors of Japan – his Excellency Mr. Takeda, Slovenia – his Excellency Mr. Mistrik and the Czech Republic – his Excellency Mr. Klepetko. Despite the bad weather and the rain all participants steady finished the play, which was Medal format.
The golf event had the aim to once again determine the best foreign golfer, resident in Bulgaria. The trophy was awarded to Mark Vanderlooy, New Zealand, with 70 net result. Second place was for Jonathan Hargreaves, England, 71 net, and third – for Ron Finley, USA with 76 net result.
Except the above listed ambassadors, in the “Harlequins Cup” Tournament  took part more diplomats and businessmen, that are fascinated by the game.

The format of the tournament was:

• Individual Medal over 18 holes
• Best net result, prizes for first, second and third place
• maximum handicap 28 men and 36 ladies

The prizes were awarded to the winners personally by Mr. Renzo Testa, General Manager of St. Sofia Golf Club & Spa.
