Sat The Club Car-Promobile British Open Golf Tournament took place on the 19th and 20th of July 2007 at St.Sofia Golf Club & Spa. Ideal weather conditions greeted the 54 players who teed it up, with a cool breeze blowing across the course. The A division played singles medal, and the B division singles stableford over thirty-six holes. Promobile, well-known in Bulgaria, recently acquired the Club Car dealership for Bulgaria and with the advent of many new golf courses are well-positioned to become the top electric golf car supplier in the country. Over the two days of the tournament, a prize of the free use of a Club Car for the remainder of the 2008 season was offered for a hole-in-one on the fifteenth hole. The A division produced some excellent scoring, with Mike Hennessy and Arne Van Amerongen tied on 149 nett after the two rounds. Two players returned 148, Jivko Tenev and Oleg Chernev. Zdravko Dachev produced the best score over the two rounds and took first place with 147 nett. On a count out, Oleg Chernev was placed second and Jivko Tenev third. In the B division, newcomer Annamarie Vulkanova played very well for a total of 73 points to take third spot. Second place went to Mario Dotchev on 74, but Grigori Grigorov swept away all opposition with his score of 80 points. Nearest the pins were taken by Arne Van Amerongen on the Saturday and Mario Dotchev on Sunday. After the trophies and prizes were handed out by Svetozara Genova and Kalina Markova representing Club Car-Promobile, players enjoyed cocktails and drinks while watching the final round of the British Open tournament. |
