Tournaments

Lexus have a proud history of sponsoring and supporting golf in the USA. They are the first official automotive partner of the USGA and also sponsor the Lexus Cup, a world team ladies event.  Lexus are also involved in the “Hook a kid on golf”programme in the USA. Now Lexus are strengthening their relationship with golf in Bulgaria by sponsoring the Lexus Golf Tournament 2008 at St.Sofia Golf Club & Spa. 

The tournament was held on the 12th and 13th of July 2008 in perfect conditions. The golf course could not have been better prepared for the 56 players who teed it up on Saturday morning. In the A division Oleg Chernev led on day one with 37 points from Ron Finlay and Zdravko Dachev on 36 points. The B division was dominated the first day by Stoyan Dimitrov and Martin Rajsp on 42 points. Martin Petrov was lying third with 38 points.

On the second day of the tournament, in the A division, the young player Emil Kaloyanov returned 42 points to add to his first round 35. Ron Finlay played steadily for 37 and Zdravko Dachev had 36. These three would take first, second and third places. The B division winner was easily Stoyan Dimitrov, with 82 points. This total would not be challenged. Dimitar Nikolov shot an excellent 40 points for a total of  73, and Nikola Kiurkchiev won the count out against Martin Petrov on 71. Nearest the pin was won by Ivaylo Giumishev on Saturday and Michael Kanev on Sunday.

Overall, the tournament was a huge success and Mr.Ivelin Marinov, marketing manager for TM Auto, the official Lexus dealer in Bulgaria was extremely happy with their first foray into golf in Bulgaria.
