Tournaments

For the second year St. Sofia Golf Club & Spa hosted the Aparthotel Lucky Bansko Golf Tournament.

The tournament was exceptionally well-supported in 2008 with 76 players taking part. The sponsorship was again of a very high standard with Aparthotel Lucky Bansko generously handing out gift bags to all participants, prizes in four divisions, champagne for the winners and a sumptuous meal served at prizegiving.

In the Junior division, played off Stableford, best of the day was Bojana Dimitrova on 32 points, followed by Andre Valasutean on 29 and Emile Kalyanov on 28.

The C division, also off stableford was keenly contested, with Tom Nelson winning a count-back for third place on 38 points. In second position, Tsuneharu Takeda came in with 40 points, and the winner was Grigori Grigorov with a fantastic 42 points. 

In the B division (stroke-play), third spot went to Ivan Golomeev on 72 nett, with Grisha Tchernev taking second, losing the count-back to Boris Borissov for first place, both players shooting 71 nett.    

The A division, also stroke-play was more clear-cut; Arne Van Amerongen returning 70 nett for third, while Stoyan Dimitrov had 69 nett for second. First place belonged to Roumen Anatassov with an incredible 65 nett.

Nearest to the pin was won by Jonathen Hargreaves, and the longest and closest to the line on 18 went to Radoslav Rashev.

The shortest drive, a fun category, was awarded to Bobi Velkov who admitted that his ball traveled only 13 meteres off the tee.

In all, a wonderful day played in a great atmosphere, with all players fully enjoying the hospitality of Aparthotel Lucky Bansko and the sponsor himself Borislav Malinov.
